Gardens & Orchids

Our home is in the middle of a lowland rain forest, with Ohia trees, Hapu'u ferns, palms, and three varieties of wild orchids.

Gardens

The yard is hand-cleared, with invasive, non-native plants removed and bamboo, heliconia, anthuriums, ginger, hoyas, and many other ornamentals added.

We have also added several varieties of bananas, orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, tangerine, tangelo, abiu, acerola, jackfruit, starfruit, rambutan, soursop, lychee, longan, guava, mangosteen, mountain apple, surinam cherries, coffee, macadamia, and avocado, as well as pineapple plants and lilikoi vines. Spice trees include cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg.

Orchids

Orchids are tied to trees; after their roots wrap around the trees the ties are removed. We are also growing vanilla orchids.
